Seven year old Natalie Lippay, who plays “Toto” in The Wizard of Oz’s Emerald cast, is Liberty Junction’s Student of the Month for September! Congratulations! We feel that Natalie has been rocking at rehearsals and doing an amazing job learning choreography and getting her barking and doggy growls louder for the stage since the course started right after labour day!
Natalie tells me that she has enjoyed playing the role of “Toto” so far because she likes being a dog. Natalie explains, “my neighbour has a dog and I like to pet it. I like to pet dogs because they come up close to me when I do!”
Our student of the month says she has seen The Wizard of Oz movie and she doesn’t have a favourite part – she likes the whole thing. Natalie is excited to be participating in her first musical with Liberty Junction Theatre and is happy to have her big sister playing the Wicked Witch too! “My sister helps me out a lot at home with my lines”, explains Natalie describing what it’s like to practice with her older sister, Maddie.
When I asked Natalie what her favourite song or dance was to learn so far, she said that she loves when “the gang is all together, singing and dancing” (meaning Dorothy, the Lion, the Tin Man and the Scarecrow).
I asked Natalie what makes her a great actor and she told me that she is the loudest barker! Way to go Natalie! We are so proud of what you’re doing with us at Liberty Junction Theatre and can’t wait to watch you grow! 🙂
